Sainsbury’s across the country and on the Isle of Wight has banned the sale of fireworks.

The company says it’s due to concerns for animal safety.

The Island has a number of stores in Freshwater, Newport, Sandown, Ryde and Cowes.

The move’s been welcomed by the Dogs Trust, which says fireworks can be very distressing for pets.

Other supermarkets are keeping them on their shelves.
