WellChild Nurse Paula Brooke had the privilege of not only attending the ‘Well Child Awards’ but was also sat next to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The WellChild Awards on Tuesday (15) was attended by a host of celebrities, doctors, nurses, volunteers and families, to recognise and celebrate the inspirational qualities of the UK’s seriously ill children and young people, along with those who go that extra mile to make a difference to their lives.

WellChild Nurses like Paula provide essential care and practical support to children and young people with exceptional health needs and their families.

These nurses play a crucial role in offering specialist support, enabling children to have the very best quality of life by leaving hospital to be cared for at home. They also help reduce the practical, emotional and financial impact for families.

Paula Brooke, WellChild Nurse said,

“It was such a special evening and I was overwhelmed when I learnt that I was lucky enough to be chosen to sit on the table with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. It was such an honour and an experience I will cherish forever.

“The evening is truly inspirational, it is held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London, the winners are chosen out of hundreds of nominations and they get an opportunity to meet the Duke and Duchess individually. During the ceremony a celebrity is chosen to present each award and a film of the winner’s story is shown. After the awards are presented there is a meal and after this the entertainment was a performance by Pixie Lott.”
