The Grade Two listed Charter House – in the centre of Newport – is set to reopen as a stylish restaurant and bar, with separately operated upstairs accommodation.

House of Nomad will take over the bar and restaurant of the impressive building in St Thomas’ Square, off Pyle Street.

It will feature innovative wine and cocktails, along with traditional offerings and regional and house specialities – with a later license at the weekend.

The accommodation comprises six renovated bedrooms.

Posting on Facebook, House of Nomad, says:

“This stunning building is nothing short of perfection and will be the proud new setting to launch the new Nomad experience to create a grand choice for a dinner date, business lunch, or for leisurely small plate grazing.

“Guests can have an ultra-luxe experience, feasting on the majestic “Shut up and Feed me” Chef’s tasting menu.

“The Nomad Bar features innovative cocktails, traditional offerings as well as regional and house specialities.

“The personality and style of our bar staff has been a key focus of our planning, to ensure the drink preparation and ambience of our bar is to the very highest quality for all of our guests.”

It’s set to open next month (November).
