Temperatures across the Isle of Wight are set to plummet tonight (Friday) – increasing the risk of black ice.
The Isle of Wight Met Service says that temperatures overnight will see temperatures fall widely to freezing point – or below – leading to the risk of icy stretches on untreated roads and surfaces.
A weather advisory is in place until 10am tomorrow (Saturday).
Isle of Wight Council gritters will be carrying out treatment this evening.
The Isle of Wight Met Service said:
“Temperatures of 0’c will develop across many parts with a few places seeing as low as -2’c.
“There is also the risk of Black Ice in more rural parts due to the freezing of field run-off water.
The temperature will rise quickly after dawn as warmer air pushes in from the south.”
