Island-born Carl Feeney has joined the list of people wanting to be the Isle of Wight’s MP.
The Fixed Link campaigner and business owner will stand for election on 12 December, as a member of the Independent Network.
“I felt it irresponsible to stand as MP without first making sufficient preparations for support at Westminster should I succeed. There are now over 2700 Independent councillors, 25 Independent MEP’s, many Independent MP’s and four more standing within the IN this election.
“I’m not a career politician… my motivation is to offer freedom, transparency and hard work… from an Islander.”
He says he will stand for the implementation of a fixed link in the form of the Solent Freedom Tunnel; to leave the EU as soon as possible; and a ‘transparent’ Island manifesto and agenda, formed by Island constituents.
He says he will be able to gain support from all political parties.
The Isle of Wight currently has six candidates hoping to become MP on 12 December. Find them at iwradio.co.uk/vote2019.
Isle of Wight Radio will host a hustings alongside the Isle of Wight County Press at Cowes Enterprise College on 5 December.
