The Isle of Wight’s West Wight Sports and Community Centre has smashed its predicted targets for a fundraising event- thanks to ambitious Islanders climbing the height of Everest for charity.

50 climbers took to the wall for this year’s sponsored climb with the youngest competitor aged three and the oldest – 72.
West Wight Sports and Community Centre’s events coordinator, Claire Treasure’s been speaking exclusively to Isle of Wight Radio, she said,
“Saturday was a great day..Everyone seemed to really enjoy the day and I know we all had fun…We had various volunteers helping out [on the day] and the event sponsor ‘PO41 Coffee House’ provided cakes and sandwiches.”
Isle of Wight Radio’s Iona Stewart-Richardson tackled the wall -14 times in 30 minutes.
