Both the former Isle of Wight Councillor for Wootton and the local authority’s Executive Member for Planning, Housing and Homelessness, Daryll Pitcher is to stand as an Independent Brexiteer.
In 2017, he ran as the UK Independence Party’s parliamentary candidate and won 1,921 votes. He finished fifth, losing his deposit.
In November 2019, he said he would support The Brexit Party’s Peter Wiltshire on the Isle of Wight. However, Mr Wiltshire has since stood, aside after a decision by party leader Nigel Farage not to contest seats won by the Conservative Party in 2017.
On 14 November, Daryll Pitcher announced that he would be standing on 12 December.
