The Isle of Wight’s Wightlink Warriors speedway team has been given a national award.

The great and the good of British Speedway gathered to celebrate the successes of the UK 2019 season with awards being presented to clubs and individuals from all three divisions of the sport.

The Wightlink Warriors were represented by co-promoters Barry Bishop and Martin Widman, team manager Jackie Vatcher and captain Ben Morley.

The team was named as the National Development League’s Most Improved Club.

Barry said:

“Martin and I were taken aback and surprised to win the NDL Most Improved Club of 2019 at the awards night in Coventry.

“Having said that, it is an award for everyone at the club who make the Wightlink Warrior experience on race day something we are rightly proud of. Thank you.”

The Warriors will be hoping for more success at the World Speedway Riders Association (WSRA) this weekend.
