A new initiative – designed to help those affected by dementia on the Island – will open at Arreton Barns this weekend.

Dandelion Crafts, a community interest company, has been formed to support Isle of Wight carers.

The idea is the brainchild of Islanders Penny Rushton and Harriet Milnesthose, who have looked after loved ones with dementia.

Products at the shop are designed to help promote relaxation and reminiscence, and are handmade by carers in their own homes.

Dandelion Crafts will share profits with dementia research charities and organisations that support carers and promote public awareness.

The initiative will also provide those who feel isolated with a much-needed support network.

Islanders are invited to come along and take a look, volunteer and even create some items.

The shop will open at 10am this Sunday (1).
