The daughter of an Isle of Wight woman – who tragically died in 2011 – has given a moving speech in memory of her mother.

Islander Gemma Quew passed away aged 30, after a heart defect went unnoticed.

Her husband Andrew has been working alongside charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) to raise awareness of undiagnosed conditions. In 2017, he was at Ryde Academy to encourage students to have heart screenings, as previously reported.

Gemma and Andrew’s daughter, 10-year-old Caitlin, has now followed suit.

She gave a moving speech to highlight the importance of raising awareness and to talk about her experience.
