A host of stars from the world of darts are set to grace the Isle of Wight tonight (Friday).

The 1Leisure Isle Of Wight Professional Darts Masters, with Isle of Wight Radio, is happening at Medina Theatre, Newport.

Darts star Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright will join the Isle of Wight’s very own, Keegan Brown, when Newport hosts its annual evening.

Also on show are former Players Champion Paul Nicholson, PDC title winner Jonny Clayton and legendary entertainer of the oche Bobby George.

Keegan, Newport’s former World Youth Champion, is now ranked number 26 in the world.

Speaking to Isle of Wight Radio, Keegan – named after Geordie football legend, Kevin Keegan – said:

“It’s great that we are able to have professional darts here on the Island. It’s sure to be another fantastic night.

“It will be great to play against some of the local crowd – no heckling allowed though – and then the competition with the other professionals.”

Keegan combines his professional darts playing with his job at Newport’s St Mary’s Hospital, where he works in the Blood Sciences laboratory.

Keegan said:

“I love playing darts and I enjoy my day job at the hospital  so I have the best of both worlds!

“It can be tough at times, especially with the travelling I have to do – but I love working for the NHS.”

The 27 year old, who lives in Newport, will also be starring the PDC World Championship at Alexandra Palace which starts on December 13. Keegan’s first match is on December 21.

He added:

“There will be a lot of practice and long hours on the dart board making sure I am ready to go for the PDC World Championship.

“Who knows, this year could be mine!”
