Isle of Wight Skeleton slider Kim Murray has won gold at the Intercontinental Cup (ICC) in the USA.

Kim, from Binstead, followed up her fifth place finish in race five of the competition on Thursday (23), to claim her first ICC win.

She came joint first with American athlete Katie Uhlaender in Lake Placid yesterday (Friday), after managing an impressive time of 1:50.17.

It follows a good week for the former long jumper, last Saturday (18) Kim broke a four-year-old track record on her way to a top eight finish in the women’s World Cup skeleton.

Posting on Twitter, Kim said:

“I said I wanted to better my 5th place… I knew I had it in me, it just needed to come together.

“I am SO glad it did.

“Big shoutout to the whole team, a solid week of sliding!”

Kim is hoping her fine form bags her a place in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics squad.
