Hundreds of pounds has been raised in memory of residents at a Newport Care Home.

Staff at Newport Residential Care Home decided to raise money in aid of the “amazing work” at Mountbatten Hospice.

Local businesses donated raffle prizes and Nine Acres Primary School, who regularly join in with Events and Activities, got behind the event by holding a cake sale.

It was held in tribute to former residents of the home Elsie Morris, John Gilbert and Alan Rowson.

Manager of Newport Residential Care Home, Lynne Rose, said Elsie was the oldest person on the Island.

She passed away just before Christmas at the age of 109.

A cheque for £420 was presented to hospice nurse, Hayley.
