The Island’s Wight Wave Beach Festival has announced it is joining forces with global sports activation agency, Provision Events.

On July 23-26, hundreds of beach sports competitors will descend on the sands of Appley beach in Ryde to compete in the largest event of its kind in the UK.

The event started in 2002 to promote beach soccer – a fast growing sport for all ages and genders.

Since that first event, it has grown into a full day’s festival celebrating beach sports – offering people from all over the chance to take part in the competitions. Tournaments across the day include: Beach Volleyball, Soccer, Runs, Foot-volley, Tennis, Rugby, Paddle Board Racing and Open Water Life Saving Competitions.

With the support of Provision Events, the event is growing yet again to include a stage with live music taking the party in to the evening, festival style food and entertainment across the day.  Last year saw over 1,208 people take part in the tournaments and 5,000 people attend the event overall, and this year those numbers are set to increase.

Provision Events is a global sports activation agency who’s roots are deeply planted in the Isle of Wight, with both founders growing up and still living here.

Nick Clemens, Provision CEO, said:

“I grew up, and still live on the Isle of Wight – if you ask me, it is one of the best places in the world.  It is an incredible environment that gives you every opportunity to spend time outside especially on the beach being active, which is very important to me.

“I have always been sporty – having had a career as a Golf Professional and then starting a sports activation company – sport has given and taught me so much over the years.  I was fortunate enough to meet Luke (Wight Wave Founder) when I attended the Beach Sports events, as my children took part in them. I was so impressed by what he had created – a sports festival that encouraged kids from all backgrounds and abilities to get involved, and the opportunity to support and promote the beach and The Isle of Wight – I just had to get involved!

“Provision will be supporting with its extensive production knowledge and contacts to support this event to go to the next level.”

Luke Kerr, Wight Wave Founder, said:

“Wight Wave Beach Sports is delighted and excited to be working with industry leading professionals Provision Events. Since initial talks began back in the summer of 2019 it was evident that both parties had a shared passion and understanding for events and sports. We both see how these two things can have a major and positive impact on the communities we live in.

“The synergies and professionalism between both organisations were clear – I am really looking forward to Wight Wave Beach Fest 2020 and seeing the concept grow with Provision Events. I am so proud of what has been created – it is something very special and still today the first of its kind in the UK in representing all beach sports for all ages and genders.”
