Adgestone Vineyard Storage Building Approved Under Conditions

A new storage building will be built at a renowned Isle of Wight vineyard.

Planners have granted Mr and Mrs Broughton permission to construct a 14 metres long ‘metal frame structure’ clad in ‘dark green’ at Adgestone Vineyard, off Upper Road near Brading.

The “well-established rural tourist attraction” has undergone “significant growth over the years”, a submitted Design, Access and Planning Statement says.

“The proposed storage building at Adgestone Vineyard represents a significant step towards enhancing the operational capacity of the business while respecting and preserving the character of the surrounding environment.

“By taking into consideration the council’s pre-application advice, the applicants are committed to developing a low-impact structure that integrates seamlessly into the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty landscape, supports rural tourism, and aids in the continued success of Adgestone Vineyard.”

The council’s decision report says:

“The proposed storage barn is considered to be acceptable in its appearance, appearing as a farm building in the landscape, being set in to the ground to further reduce any harmful visual impact.

“The proposed barn would assist in containing equipment which is currently stored outdoors on site.”

Officers attached six conditions to the approval to ensure compliance with national legislation and Island planning policy, suitable drainage and environmental protection.
