Closed High Street Barbers Could Be Transformed Into Tattoo Studio

Rufus Pickles

A closed barbers on an Isle of Wight town high street could be turned into a new tattoo studio.

Duane Sibbick has lodged a planning application with County Hall for a change of use of 52B High Street, Shanklin.

The building was previously home to Cassanova Barbers.

Submitted plans show the new ‘tattoo studio salon’ would comprise one room divided into a treatment and waiting area, with no changes to the existing shop.

Mr Sibbick’s Heritage Statement says there will be ‘no external changes’ and ‘no impact’ on the Shanklin Conservation Area if the proposal goes ahead.

A public consultation on the application ends on April 29.

A decision is expected on May 19.
