On Sunday 27 April, Nathan Docksey and Robert Reynard will both be lining up at the start of the TCS London Marathon to raise funds and awareness of Island charity The Wight Brainy Bunch.
Despite being a seasoned runner, this will be Nathan's first ever marathon, having successfully applied for the single charity entry that was awarded to them in the small
charity ballot.
Undertaking a marathon is no mean feat, but Nathan is taking things a step further as he is attempting to run the 26.2 mile route in a time of under 3 hours.
Nathan Docksey said:
“I've been given a wonderful opportunity from a local charity The Wight Brainy Bunch to run the 2025 London Marathon to help raise funds for them.
It's an honour to help raise money for their incredible cause and spread awareness for this amazing charity, who help so many where there is a complete is lack of support and funding.
"I will endeavour to do all I can to help get them and the families the funding needed and hit this target.”
Rob will be joining Nathan on the start line, having successfully secured a much-coveted ballot place in this year’s London Marathon.
He is a keen supporter of The Wight Brainy Bunch, attending many events to help raise funds and running for them regularly in the annual Great South Run in Portsmouth.
This will be Rob’s second official marathon, having completed the Brighton Marathon last year in aid of Mountbatten, in memory of his uncle.
He said:
“I am running the TCS London Marathon 2025 to raise money and awareness for an island based charity providing much needed support to our island residents.
"The work they do is amazing and helps so many families. Please donate an amount however small if you can.”
The Wight Brainy Bunch was founded by Ryde Firefighter Mark Grimes, and his wife,
following his diagnosis of a brain tumour in 2015.
The charity provides emotional support and financial assistance to other Isle of Wight families affected by brain tumours.
Kathryn Grimes from the Wight Brainy Bunch said:
“We are humbled that Nathan and Rob have chosen to represent The Wight Brainy
Bunch at this iconic event.
"Running a marathon is a significant physical and mental challenge, requiring extensive training and dedication.
"We are in awe of their commitment and wish them both the very best of luck”
