A new banking hub has found its temporary home in East Cowes Library, located in the East Side Curve.
Customers of all major banks can visit any weekday between 9am-5pm to carry out regular cash transactions including cash withdrawals and deposits as well as checking balances or paying bills.
Additionally, the hub also offers a community banker service where customers can talk to their own bank in a private space about more complicated issues on the day their bank is in the hub:
Monday: Barclays
Tuesday: Lloyds (coming soon)
Wednesday: HSBC (coming soon)
Thursday: NatWest
Friday: No community banker available
The hub was recommended by LINK, the UK’s Cash Access and ATM network, following a community request from Richard Quigley, MP for Isle of Wight West.
While the hub in East Cowes is up and running today, Cash Access UK has confirmed it is currently working to secure a long-term home for the banking hub which will offer the same services.
When a suitable property is found to house the banking hub permanently it could remain in East Cowes or could be located in West Cowes.
Local residents can check for updates on the official website.
Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK, said:
“I'm pleased to announce the opening of the Isle of Wight's first banking hub in East Cowes, restoring valuable access to cash and face-to-face banking services for local residents.
"The hub offers everyday banking transactions during the week, while community bankers will be available on specific days to handle more complex inquiries.
"We're currently working to secure a permanent, accessible location that will conveniently serve the community."
