A day-long 'camp out' is taking place at two locations in Ryde from midday today (Friday) to raise money for homeless veterans.

The not-for-profit Veteran Hotel on Ryde's Esplanade is hosting a 24-hour community initiative in conjunction with the Veterans Lounge — based on the High Street, with around a dozen people sleeping across each site for the duration.

Participants will spend that time with only blankets and cardboard to mirror the conditions experienced by homeless veterans across the UK.

There will be donation buckets and sponsorship forms at each venue for those who would like to help this amazing cause.

Four homeless veterans are currently staying at the hotel, which is providing shelter for these national heroes, but they need further support.

Visit the Veteran’s Hub CIC website to find out more.
