'Students thrive in the residential provision of St Catherine’s School and College' — a glowing Ofsted Social Care Inspection has revealed.
The day and residential special school based in Ventnor, focuses on supporting students with speech, language and communication needs.
Ofsted visited the school and college in February to complete its yearly Social Care Inspection.
The inspectors’ report noted:
“Students flourish in the residential provision of this school.
"They make exceptional progress in their educational, personal and social development.”
The report highlighted several areas of strengths with the school and college:
The complete integration across all departments, including education, health, therapy, and residential teams
An exceptionally strong therapy team that helps students to thrive
The extensive team of mental health first aiders supporting both students and staff
The culture of active listening and commitment to making positive changes based on
student feedback
Sarah Thompson, Principal of St Catherine’s, said:
“We are delighted by the Ofsted inspectors’ judgement and their wonderful comments about the residential provision at St Catherine’s.
"The report reflects the dedication and commitment of our team, who work tirelessly to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students.”
St Catherine’s School and College is one of the few schools in the country that specialises in
supporting students with speech, language and communication needs.
