Ventnor Cricket Club will celebrate its 175th anniversary this summer with a number of events, including an evening with England legend Matthew Hoggard on Saturday April 5.
This is a massive year for Ventnor CC, which has come a long way since its early days in the Isle of Wight Cricket League.
Over the years, the club has expanded into mainland competitions, first competing in the Cross Solent League, followed by the Hampshire League, and ultimately reaching the Southern League.
Recent success for the 1st and 2nd XI makes Ventnor the highest performing club on the Island.
The rise through the divisions to now compete in Division One of the Southern League has only been possible due to the dedication and passion of both past and present members.
A spokesperson for Ventnor CC said:
"We are also proud of our excellent facilities, which include our very own three-lane cricket hall, as well as impressive bar and club room facilities, some of the best in the country.
"Given the significance of our 175th anniversary, we believe this is an ideal time to celebrate the incredible community spirit that has made our club so special over many years."
