"Don't Be A Tosser" Campaign Sees KFC Team Keeping Isle Of Wight Streets Tidy

Team members from KFC Isle of Wight took to the streets of Lake this morning (Tuesday) to mark the launch of the brand’s biggest ever Great British Spring Clean litter pick.

KFC team members braved the rain alongside Councillors Paul Brading and John Marshall.

A national grant scheme, put in place by the company to tackle littering, was also announced today.

It includes the creation of a new £40,000 fund to support local litter picking groups, and the intention to partner with three local councils to trial new ways to tackle the issue.

Tom Newham, KFC senior public affairs manager, said:

"If you think back to the height of the lockdown in 2020, there was a national story about a piece of KFC litter which went viral.

"We knew we had to do something about it, so we put a graphic out on our social media channels with the phrase 'Don't be a tosser' along with the message for people to take their litter home with them.

"Keep Britain Tidy got in touch as they were also using the slogan, and we have become headline partners for the Great British Spring Clean as a result."

The Great British Spring Clean runs until April 10 and people can sign up online to take part in cleaning up their own communities.

Groups which are already organised will soon be able to receive free equipment such as litter pickers and bin bags as part of the impending grant scheme.
