Reports of a drifting dinghy in the middle of the Solent led to a callout for Cowes RNLI Lifeboat this evening (Sunday).
HM Coastguard said it was alerted to the dinghy, with two persons on board, at 6.15pm.
Hampshire police RHIB 'Protector' and Cowes RNLI were tasked to retrieve the crew and their vessel.
The lifeboat was stood down shortly after as the Hampshire police RHIB recovered the drifting dinghy and returned it and its crew to Lepe beach.
