A block of flats could eventually fill an overgrown plot on a road in Ventnor, after a basic, in-principle, outline plan for the scheme was submitted to the Isle of Wight Council.
Land at 53, Upper Gills Cliff Road has been empty since 2015, when the original bungalow there was demolished.
Since then, the site has become derelict and overgrown.
Now outline plans have been submitted by Peter Champion of Bognor Regis-based Champion Associates.
The firm wants permission to build a three-storey building, containing six two-bed flats.
Previous schemes have been approved for the site, including one in 2020, for two houses.
However, they never got off the drawing board because of feasibility and land layout issues, according to documents submitted to the Isle of Wight Council.
If approval for this latest idea is granted, other matters including the proposed flats’ access, appearance, layout and landscaping would have to be agreed, through a second, future planning application.
Ventnor Town Council has supported the application but said further development of the site will need to comply with Island Roads’ recommendations.
You can view the plans, 22/02033/OUT, on the IW council’s planning register. Comments can be submitted until December 12.
