Poll Results: 55% Won't Install Second Isle Of Wight Trialled Coronavirus App

More than half of those who filled out an Isle of Wight Radio poll say they will not download the new contact tracing app.

As Isle of Wight Radio previously reported, the Island has been selected to trial the track and trace technology for a second time.

It comes two months after 'technical problems' shelved the first pilot. The Government has now decided to switch to a decentralised model with help from Google and Apple.

How does it work? Isle of Wight Radio has put together a helpful article with everything you need to know.

Unique codes have been sent to households on the Island, allowing residents to sign up for the new app.

But after many brandished the first trial as a 'failure', questions are being asked over whether enough support will be registered this time around.

Isle of Wight Radio, the Island's most followed and liked media outlet, asked Facebook:

"The Isle of Wight is to trial the UK's NEW coronavirus app. Are you going to download it?"

And the results....

55%, of the near 2,000 people to fill out the poll, said they WOULD NOT download it. Whereas, 45% said they WOULD give it a go.

Izzy commented:

"Definitely not, not after the last fiasco, let someone else have a turn."

Steve wrote:

"Just do it, the fake outrage really winds me up, you all have Facebook and far more intrusive apps on your phones and iPads, this could make a difference so what’s the harm in trying it? Absolutely pathetic response from some people."

Are you going to download it? Have your say below...
