Russell Watson, Russell Kane, and Sigma have been announced for Robin Hill's Woodland Sessions this summer.
After a hugely successful debut last year, it's been revealed that The Woodland Sessions will return with five shows. Described as 'a unique series of intimate outdoor concerts' the shows will take place in Robin Hill’s unique, illuminated woodland valley in July and August.
After last year’s sell out show, the comedy kicks off the summer series on Friday July 15 with well-known TV comedians Russell Kane, Marcus Brigstocke, Angela Barnes, and Suzi Ruffell.
Woodland Sessions Party on Saturday July 16 sees the return of Rhythm Of The 90s, the UK’s undisputed number one 90s dance covers party starters.
An incredible 26 years on from supporting Oasis at their legendary Knebworth concerts, the world’s biggest Beatles tribute show, The Bootleg Beatles make their Isle Of Wight debut at Woodland Sessions Icons on Friday July 22, complete with a strings and brass ensemble.
Woodland Sessions Dance on Friday August 12 brings back memories of Bestival’s past at Robin Hill. The Island’s most exciting summer dance party stars two of the world’s finest drum & bass acts. Sigma have been at the forefront of the UK scene for over 10 years, attracting stars such as Take That, Paloma Faith, Rita Ora, Labrinth and Birdy to lend their vocals to their radio-friendly cross-over hits, whilst Dimension is at the
forefront of a new wave of dance music headliners. Desire - a collaboration with Sub Focus – is frequently played on BBC Radio 1, three years on from its release, and is hailed by many as one of the best DnB singles ever produced.
And the summer series bows out with another Isle Of Wight debut performance. Woodland Sessions Classical on Saturday August 13, features a very rare, intimate show, from one of the world’s very best classical singers, Russell Watson.
Described by the New York Times as a performer “who sings like Pavarotti and entertains like Sinatra” Russell’s career has seen him perform for some of the world’s most notable figures including the Queen, the late Pope John Paul II, former US presidents Bill Clinton and George W Bush, and the Emperor of Japan. His performance at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in 2002, was watched by a worldwide TV audience of over one billion!
Robin Hill Park Manager, James Crofts, said:
“We’re over the moon that we’re able to bring The Woodland Sessions back for a second year to further enhance Robin Hill’s, and indeed the Island’s, exciting summer season of events. To attract talent such as Russell Watson to The Woodland Sessions in only our second year is a huge coup. There’s truly something for everyone at the Woodland Sessions and we can’t wait to welcome old friends and new to these unique shows”
Keith Penny, owner of Island-based events production company 'With a difference', said:
“As Bestival proved for many years, Robin Hill is an unrivalled venue for first class outdoor entertainment and that’s exactly what we’re striving for. Each night features acts at the very forefront of their particular genre of entertainment.
From the world’s longest running Fab 4 tribute show, through to a fab four of TV’s most familiar comedians. Completing our series with two of UK dance music’s coolest DJ’s / producers and then an intimate show with a world famous classical artist of the calibre of Russell Watson shows we’re truly bringing exceptional talent to an exceptional setting. 97% of last year’s ticket buyers said they would return – can we make it 100% this year?!”
Capacity is limited per night and tickets go on general sale on April 22 at https://robin-hill.com/woodland-sessions/
