Shanklin's Lloyds Bank branch is to shut its doors later this year, it has been announced.

The bank on Regent Street is one of 24 Lloyds Banks set to close.

Parent company Lloyds Banking Group is also shutting 19 Bank of Scotland and 17 Halifax banks across the country.

The firm said the decision was made as customers switch to online banking.

Vim Maru, group retail director, Lloyds Banking Group, is quoted in the Daily Mirror as saying:

“Just like many other high street businesses, fewer customers are choosing to visit our branches.

"Our branch network is an important way for us to support our customers, but we need to adapt to the significant growth in customers choosing to do most of their everyday banking online.”

Shanklin's branch looks set to shut on July 28, 2022.
