The shambolic Floating Bridge will be suspended for a time tomorrow morning (Christmas Eve).
After four months out of service, for a whole manner of repairs, the chain ferry will once again be out of action.
After returning on Monday, it now needs to be halted for yet another repair.
It will undoubtedly mean Newport will be chaotic, as shoppers scramble to grab those last few bits before Christmas.
All traffic between Cowes and East Cowes will have to, again, go via Newport.
An Isle of Wight Council spokesperson said:
“In order to complete a minor repair and adjustments following the recent works to the Floating Bridge, the vessel will be temporarily suspended after the busy morning period (24th December) between 10.15am and 12.15pm.”
A launch service for passengers and cyclists will be in operation.
