‘We Are All In This Together’: Isle Of Wight County Showground Hosts Open Air Market

After the wind forced it to be cancelled last weekend, the open-air market plans to make a return tomorrow (Sunday) at the Isle of Wight County Showground.

The free event has been organised as we are being encouraged to support our local businesses - after events like the Isle of Wight County Show have been cancelled because of coronavirus.

Around 40 traders will be selling goods at the event from 10am until 2pm and everyone is welcome.

Vice-Chairman of the Royal Agricultural Society, Graham Biss told Isle of Wight Radio:

‘We are not about making money, the idea is to give local businesses the opportunity to trade and local people to go shopping in a safe environment.

‘It is not just going to be food - it will be primarily arts and crafts - we wanted to provide a safe and secure venue.

‘There is 27 acres of land and people can come along with their dogs and exercise them in the wonderful woodland which will be open.’

The event is also part of the #let’sbuylocal campaign, where Islanders are being encouraged to support independent businesses that have either had to close as a result of the pandemic, or kept us afloat by providing us with essential goods.

Stands are £10 each. If you want to pitch one, email [email protected], via the Facebook Page or call 01983 296244.
