Youngsters from Dover Park Primary School in Ryde brought some Christmas spirit to Ryde Pier Head yesterday (Thursday).
The singing took place for Wightlink customers waiting to board the FastCat to Portsmouth.
Headteacher Anita Wilcox said:
“The children put a lot of time and effort into learning their Christmas songs.
"It was a wonderful experience for them to be able to share their music with Wightlink’s passengers and staff.”
Dover Park is one of Wightlink’s partner schools.
This was the first of this year's live festive music performances by lsland groups on Wightlink’s ships and at ferry ports.
Wightlink’s Fishbourne to Portsmouth ferries will host several events.
There will be performances by Fusion Arts Academy’s pop and musical theatre-inspired Wight Notes Choir today (Monday).
Osel’s The Way Forward Choir – supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health issues - will be singing on Friday (December 16).
Members of the Wightlink in the Community group will also be showcasing their skills.
Viola player Andy Hicks of the Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra will be performing festive classics on December 14, while Jukebox Jazz will be on board on behalf of Newport Jazz Club on December 22.
Wightlink’s Commercial Director Phil Delaney says:
“We are proud to support many Island arts groups and it’s lovely they can perform this Christmas, especially as everyone missed out over the last couple of years due to the pandemic.
“As well as being a rewarding experience for the singers and musicians and an opportunity to raise funds for charity.
"We hope it provides some welcome festive cheer for those travelling in the busy lead up to Christmas.”
