England Captain Harry Kane Reads The Lion Inside For CBeebies' Bedtime Stories Show

Harry Kane has read a tale about finding your inner lion as he became the latest star to read a CBeebies bedtime story.

The England captain appeared on Monday's BBC children's TV programme (10 October) to narrate The Lion Inside, by Rachel Bright.

The story of self belief follows a shy mouse who sets out on a journey to find his roar.

Kane chose the book himself because he reads it to his three children, who are all aged five or under.

"One of my favourite things to do is sit down with my children before bedtime and read them a book. I enjoy this quality time with them," said Kane, 29.

"They especially love the book The Lion Inside so they will be extremely excited to hear this."

The BBC said the broadcast of the episode of Bedtime Stories featuring The Lion Inside aligns with World Mental Health Day, also on 10 October, because of its themes of "friendship, confidence and self-esteem".

The Princess of Wales chose a book with a similar message, The Owl Who Was Afraid Of The Dark, when she appeared on the programme earlier this year.

Harry Kane is the latest in a string of famous names to read a CBeebies bedtime story.

Others that have appeared include actors Tom Hardy and Chris Hemsworth, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, singer Harry Styles and Strictly Come Dancing winner Rose Ayling-Ellis - who signed her episode.

The episode is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
