12-Year-Old Cyclist Suffers Serious Facial Injuries In Lake Crash

A 12-year-old boy remains in hospital with serious facial injuries following a crash involving a car and a bicycle in Lake yesterday (Tuesday).

As Isle of Wight Radio first reported, emergency services shut Lake Hill in both directions after a collision, just after 4.30pm.

The road remained closed for around eight hours as crime scene investigators from the mainland visited the scene.

It has since reopened.

Police say a grey Mercedes A160 collided with a 12 year old boy riding a push bike on Lake Hill, at the junction with Newcomen Road.

As a result of the collision the boy suffered serious facial injuries and remains in hospital at this time.

An appeal for witnesses has been launched.

If you have dash cam footage of the collision, or of the car or bike in the moments beforehand, contact police on 101.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 101, quoting crime reference number 44220383370.
