Isle of Wight and Hampshire fire services have been called to around 300 fires in the open in the month of May.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is urging Islanders to be responsible when having bonfires.
Posting on Twitter, the fire service said:
To avoid having a bonfire and needlessly calling us out, why not make a booking to visit your local tip or recycling centre?@iwight

The IWFRS are attending double the normal calls to bonfires. This is exposing crews unnecessarily to C19. Please use alternative ways to dispose of your garden waste, ie tip or compost. If you do have to have a bonfire please call Fire Control on 02031 620063 so we are aware. pic.twitter.com/utYmgpV9YE

As Isle of Wight Radio previously reported, firefighters on the Island have responded to a number of blazes over the last month.
One of which was thought to have been started deliberately.
On that occasion, crews were alerted to a fire in a hollow tree in Freshwater.
