£745 has been raised for Prostate Cancer UK thanks to an Island Roads employee who completed a gruelling fundraiser.
29 year old Jack Faulds ran more than 50 miles in a month after being inspired to support the charity - after his uncle was diagnosed and treated for the disease.
Jack who plays football for Carisbrooke completed 53.4 miles running around the outskirts of Newport, where he lives.
He said:
“I wanted to do something to raise awareness about prostate cancer after my uncle was diagnosed. Thankfully he received treatment early and after an operation is making a good recovery
“Prostate Cancer UK is doing great work to help develop new treatments for the disease, while providing support for those diagnosed with the condition and their families. I was pleased to be able raise some funds to help them in their work.”
Island Roads, where Jack has worked for the past three years as a highways operative, match-funded money raised by Jack with a donation of £300.
Donations made since then brought his final total raised to £745.
Stephen Ashman, Island Roads service director, said:
“We were delighted to support Jack in his running challenge, we were very impressed with the mileage he clocked up. Well done to Jack for raising money for such a good cause.”
