Alan - a national treasure - is the voice of the programme, which is showcasing all that's great about the Isle of Wight.
Filmed last summer, the four-part series explores how Islanders handle the challenges of a busy tourist season.
Alan told Isle of Wight Radio:
"The show is all about the Island and the families who work here. It was filmed last summer and we just look wonderful.
"I have been a part-time resident for over 20 years now, and I know the Island well. There are always people and stories that are being uncovered.
"It gives a wonderful explanation of the Island's riches, in terms of geography and natural features, and the different kinds of people who live here."
The first Jewel of the South episode will air tonight (Thursday March 2), at 8pm, on Channel 5.
