An amber heat alert is in force for much of the south of England, including the Isle of Wight.
The warning came into force at midnight and lasts until Sunday night (14), as temperatures continue to climb.
The IW Met Service said that the mercury could top 32.C in some parts today, with a local Level 5 Alert issued.
The IW Met Service said:
"Coastal parts of the east and south will be the coolest and will be a welcome escape for some."
The Met Office said:
"Temperatures will increase across much of the UK over the coming week.
"Temperatures will be highest across parts of England and Wales with these peaking on Friday and Saturday.
"In addition to high daytime maxima, temperatures overnight will remain very warm, especially in larger urban areas."
