Amended Timetable As Red Funnel Disruption Continues

Passengers hoping to cross the Solent with Red Funnel are again being told to expect disruption as the operator announces more cancellations today (Friday).

The firm has made multiple changes to its timetables in recent days - with multiple sailings changed to freight only services and many others cancelled - as maintenance on the Red Falcon continues to overrun.

Now, passengers using the vehicle ferry service between East Cowes and Southampton are told to check their journeys as more alterations to services have been made both for today and the 2nd January.

Red Kestrel, the operator's freight vessel, is being deployed to help ease demand and Red Funnel is contacting all impacted customers to offer new crossing times.

The following vehicle ferry sailings will be cancelled:

Friday, 29 December
Departing Southampton: 05:15, 08:15, 11:15, 14:15
Departing East Cowes: 06:45, 09:45, 11:45, 15:45

Tuesday, 2nd January:
Departing Southampton: 05:15, 08:15, 11:15, 14:15, 17:15
Departing East Cowes: 06:45, 09:45, 12:45, 15:45, 18:45

Passengers travelling on 30th and 31st December as well as 1st January are unaffected.

Leanna Lakes, Operations Director at Red Funnel, said:

"We sincerely apologise for the changes to our timetable as we continue to undertake the necessary works needed to return Red Falcon into service.

"We appreciate how important travel is over the holidays and we thank our customers for their patience and understanding as these works are taking longer than anticipated.

"Please be assured that crossings on 30th Dec as well as New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day are unaffected."
