An antique Chinese bowl has sold for a whopping £150,000 at auction on the Isle of Wight.
Lot 93, a circular pot, accompanied with a cover, attracted international interest during the auction at Brading's HRD Auction Rooms.
Bidding began at £20,000, with an offer coming in from the phone. But that was soon silenced by an internet bidder.
A back and forth between bidders on the internet, telephone and in the room ensued, taking the bid to more than £130,000.
It eventually came to an end after the internet vendor bid £152,000.
Managing Director and auctioneer, Warren Riches, said:
"The murmur of excitement was audible the moment a phone bidder instructed one of my team to open the bidding at £20,000, but it was quickly silenced by the instant reply of an internet bidder.
"The bidding only gathered pace from there, as internet, telephone and room traded blows well past £130,000, until a back and forth between an internet and telephone bidder left the internet the victor.
"A great result for the vendor that only goes to prove that a local auction house can compete with anyone else out there!"
The pot has a contrasting turquoise interior and is part of a collection of antique oriental items consigned to auction by an Island estate.
