Appeal For Witnesses Following Robbery Report In Church Litten

Police are appealing for witnesses as part of a robbery investigation in Newport.

Police were called at 5.40pm on Thursday 21 September with reports that a woman in her 30s had her handbag, containing cash, snatched from her in the rose garden in Church Litten.

A 40-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of robbery, and has been bailed with conditions until 19 December while enquiries continue.

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said:

"We believe there were a number of other members of the public in the area at the time of this incident who will have potentially seen what happened.

"Officers are appealing for these witnesses to please come forward."
