Applications Open For Red Funnel’s 2025 Charity Of The Year

Red Funnel has announced the opening of its annual Charity of the Year nominations for 2025.

The ferry operator is calling on charities serving the Isle of Wight community to apply for the chance to be its next Charity of the Year, with applications closing on Sunday 27 October.

The initiative is part of its Changing Tides strategy, which pledges Red Funnel’s commitment to supporting the Isle of Wight community for years to come.

Red Funnel’s current Charity of the Year is the Isle of Wight Foodbank. Alongside collecting donations, Red Funnel is donating 50p from the sale of its Captain Ted Funnel and Captain Ruby Funnel mascot toys to the foodbank and continues to be a drop off point for food donations, with collection bins located at all four of the company’s ticket offices.

Most recently, the company ran a can drive and collected 513 cans to help restock shelves and replenish the foodbank’s most urgently needed items, including canned soup, fruit, veg and meat.

Speaking on the opening of its annual Charity of the Year applications, Fran Collins, CEO at Red Funnel, said:

“As we move into our eleventh year of our charity programme, we feel incredibly lucky to have worked with and supported so many brilliant charities.

"Our customer donations, fundraising and volunteering are making a real difference and we’re proud to support the island’s charities.

"We’ve been delighted to partner with this year’s Charity of the Year, The Isle of Wight Foodbank, and we’re excited to start the process to find our 2025 Charity of the Year.”

The application criteria for applying to be Red Funnel’s Charity of the Year are:

  • Be a registered charity
  • Have been in operation on the Isle of Wight for at least 12 months
  • Support the Isle of Wight community
  • Not held title of Red Funnel Charity of the Year within the last 7 years

Interested charities should apply to Red Funnel’s Charity of the Year 2025 programme by Sunday 27 October.
