A Cowes man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary following a number of incidents in East Cowes last night (Friday).
Hampshire Constabulary says it received reports of a man in possession of a knife outside of an address on Castle Street.
Police say he entered a house on the road but was chased off by those living there.
A 33-year-old man, from Cowes, detained on suspicion of aggravated burglary, remains in custody.
Officers were called at 6.19pm.
A number of incidents, said to involve a man acting suspiciously, were reported on social media.
