Four people arrested following an incident in the early hours of the morning in Oakfield, remain in police custody today (Thursday).
Hampshire Constabulary says it was called to a disturbance at an address in Oak Vale at 3.14am.
Officers attended and arrested four people at the address.
A 56-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and assault on an emergency worker.
While a 30-year-old man, a 28-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of affray.
The 28-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear.
That arrest followed a report of a man in possession of an item described as a firearm in South Street, Newport at 6.11pm last night (Wednesday).
