Isle of Wight Auction Launched By Independent Arts

Island arts for wellbeing charity, Independent Arts, has launched its first ever online art auction.

The online auction features work created by participants at the charity’s artist led community workshops and by residents of care and residential homes.

Some of the pieces were created by members of the public, in response to Lockdown and featured in their 2021 Looking Out from Lockdown touring exhibition, instigated by Lord Lieutenant Susie Sheldon.

The auction will close at 9pm on Monday 28 February with bids taken online. Viewings of all auction items can be arranged within the Creative Hub by contacting [email protected]

As well as large statement pieces such as the Musicians of Bremen statue and a large mosaic, the auction offers a range of mediums, artworks of all shapes, sizes and for all budgets.

Lots in the auction include the Musicians of Bremen statue, created by Picture Play, a Saturday morning family learning group for primary aged children and their parents in our creative hub.

Independent Arts chief executive, Lisa Gagliani MBE, said:

“Since the pandemic, many people have turned to the arts as a distraction, and have unlocked talent in themselves.

"As a charity, we’ve harnessed the therapeutic power of arts for 35 years and this auction is a fantastic way to tell the story of the artists, who have realised their potential and gained so much in the process.

Each piece is unique and represents love, companionship and resilience.”
