Award-Laden Month For Ventnor's Royal Hotel And New Head Chef

It has been an award-winning month for the team at Ventnor's Royal Hotel, with their new head chef making an instant impact.

Following two inspections in a week, The Royal successfully retains both its four-star hotel classification and two AA Rosettes.

The team has also received Silver Star status for the second successive year — awarded to highly recommended hotels offering a superior level of quality.

Matt Egan, the Royal's newly promoted head chef, also achieved top marks with a five-star rating following an Environmental Health inspection within the same week.

The venue, which was crowned 'Best Hotel Experience on the Isle of Wight’ in the 2021 Red Funnel Awards, is one of the longest standing hotels on the Island and was the first to achieve Four AA Stars.

Head chef Matt said:

“The first few months in my new role at The Royal have been an incredible journey and the team are going from strength to strength."

William Bailey, managing director of the Royal Hotel, added:

“I am proud of our hardworking, passionate and experienced team. They have worked incredibly hard for our awards this year.

"Matt was an award-winning head chef at just 21 before joining the Royal kitchen as a junior sous chef.

"There are exciting plans ahead, and we can’t wait to welcome many more guests for the Isle of Wight’s 'Best Hotel Experience.'”
