Big Success For Sandown Carnival As Thousands Flock To Town For Celebrations

In perfect summer weather, Sandown was treated to a day-long feast of family entertainment on Saturday.

From the Children’s Carnival in the morning to the Main Carnival parade in the evening, thousands flocked to the town to enjoy the fun.

Sandown Carnival Chair, Paul Couslant, said:

"We’re really pleased our visitors and residents had a day to remember, now we move on to Sandown Bay Regatta the weekend after next when we hope the sun stays shining."

He had a special word for the team behind the organisation which has entertained Sandown since Victorian times:

"As probably the longest-serving community group in town, we‘re run entirely by volunteers who're proud to carry on the tradition of providing free events each year, and we’re forever grateful to the public for their donations which help us cover our costs’.

You can support Sandown Carnival online at www.sandowncarnival.com/donate or by visiting the Carnival Shop at 77a High Street PO36 8AD.

Sandown Bay Regatta takes place over the weekend of 10 and 11 August with details on the Sandown Carnival website www.sandowncarnival.com/event-calendar.
