A teenage boy has been arrested after a machete and drugs were found during a search outside McDonald's in Newport.
Whilst dealing with a concern for welfare incident outside McDonalds, St James Street, shortly after 6.30pm on Sunday (18), police stopped and searched three individuals - including one who was said to be obstructive.
During the search of the particular individual – a 15-year-old boy - officers seized a quantity of suspected MDMA, magic mushrooms and a machete. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
He has since been bailed with conditions until October 16 while the investigation continues.
Enquiries that evening also led to the arrests of three further individuals on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs.
They are a 47-year-old man, a 47-year-old woman, and a 19-year-old man. All three have been released from custody but remain under investigation while enquiries continue.
