Break-In At Waterside Pool Costs Charity Thousands Of Pounds In Damages

The early hours of Saturday (August 31) saw a break-in at Ryde's Waterside pool which is expected to cost the charity thousands of pounds in damages.

Three men, thought to be aged between 25 and 35, broke into the pool by forced entry into the centre activating the building's intruder alarm.

In a bid to avoid capture, the intruders subsequently vandalised all of the building's external lighting and security systems.

Despite the untimely break-in, the intruder alarm ensured there was a prompt response to the Centre, with the Police quickly on scene to capture and detain the intruders.

Wight Fire & Security attended in the early hours to replace damaged hardware and ensure the building was ready for the centre’s swimming lessons that morning.

Other local contractors were also drafted in to make good the various other damage that was sustained during the break in.

The incident is expected to cost the charity thousands in damages.
