Children at Broadlea Primary School have smashed a fundraising target they set themselves, to support coronavirus patients at St Mary's Hospital.
Year 2 Starfish class at the Lake school decided they wanted to raise money for people in hospital suffering with coronavirus, who can't see their friends and families.
They wanted to raise enough money to buy tablet devices to enable the patients to FaceTime or video call from their hospital bed.
Thanks to their incredible efforts and the support of their teachers, they completed a 40 mile running/walking challenge - the equivalent of climbing Mt. Everest.
A fundraising target was set at £600, which quickly increased to £2,000 after receiving several generous donations. The final amount raised was an amazing £2,525.
Teacher, Zoey Breingan, said:
"We are so proud of all the children! It has been an amazing effort.
"It means the money can now be used to buy tablets for the COVID patients to FaceTime their friends or family from their hospital beds."
Keep on running! 🏃♀️🏃♂️ At £2285, we have smashed our initial target of £600 and our new target of £2000!! A huge...
