A casualty has been airlifted to Southampton's Major Trauma Centre following an overnight collision near Porchfield.
Emergency response teams including the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and Isle of Wight Ambulance Service rushed to the scene on Whitehouse Road at just before midnight last night.
Due to the severity of the injuries sustained by at least one casualty, the Air Ambulance was scrambled to the scene, with its specialist doctors working to stabilise the person involved. It's understood they were then taken directly to Southampton Major Trauma Centre for specialist treatment.
Investigations into the cause of the collision have begun - the second occupant of the vehicle's condition is not known.
The road has since reopened.
