South Wight Area Youth Partnership (SWAY) is calling for people to help ‘PAINT THE HUT’ in Chale.
The group will be undertaking the mission of giving a lick of paint to the youth hut — based inside the entrance of the Chale Green estate — from 10am both today and tomorrow (Saturday and Sunday).
SWAY has received planning permission for a new Community Hub in its place, but will continue to use the hut until those plans come to fruition.
A spokesperson for the organisation said:
"The local community lost its existing café and shop a few years ago when it was turned into private housing.
"We are looking to replace this with a Community Hub comprising a top up shop, café, meeting rooms, a multi-purpose space, and offices.
"The space will enable a range of other organisations to offer their services in the rural south Wight, a location easily accessible and convenient.
"Paint The Hut is a great opportunity to hear what people would like the Hub to be as well as being a fun time at the start of half-term."
SWAY is a youth provider and family support group across the south Wight offering activities, events and mentoring.
